Students who decided to apply for the BU summer term can proceed to the official application at Boston University website from January 15, 2026 until the deadline set by Boston University. At the same time, students need to submit the internal application to SAO (21 Jan – 23 Feb 2026) to become a UM-nominated student. Only UM-nominated students will be eligible to compete for the UM sponsorship based on smart point or RC nomination.

Besides, students must enroll in a face-to-face/on-campus course(s) in order to be nominated by UM.

Students are expected to have a good command of the English language to follow the lectures and participate actively in the discussions.

To obtain a summer I-20 immigration document from Boston University, which is required to apply for the F-1 student visa, you must be a full-time student in the summer. Full-time means students have to enroll in at least 8 credits in one session.

Immunization Requirement

Students must have these immunizations to remain in compliance with University requirements. Immunizations include: measles, mumps, rubella (MMR); tetanus (must be Tdap vaccine); hepatitis B; (bacterial) meningitis; varicella; and tuberculosis testing, depending on country of origin.
